Elliott's 6-game suspension upheld; eligible to play Week 1
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension has been upheld by arbitrator Harold Henderson following last week's appeal hearing, the team announced Tuesday.
Elliott also had a hearing on his motion to file a temporary restraining order against the suspension Tuesday evening. The judge said a ruling will be made on the motion by Friday at 5:00 p.m. CT, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
In court Tuesday, the NFL noted that - because Elliott's appeal ruling came after 4 p.m. Tuesday - he is eligible to play Sunday against the New York Giants, but whether he delays his suspension or begins it this week is undecided.
While the prevailing thought is Elliott will play Week 1, he likely won't announce when he'll start his suspension until after the restraining order has been ruled upon. If the temporary restraining order is not approved and Elliott elects to begin his suspension immediately, he'll be eligible to return in Week 8 against the Washington Redskins. He could also play Sunday against the Giants and begin his ban the following week.
Elliott's attorneys released a statement following Henderson's ruling, expressing their disappointment and stating Elliott is "looking forward to having his day in federal court."

The NFL filed a lawsuit in New York Tuesday night to confirm the decision to uphold the suspension. The league did the same thing when Tom Brady's appeal to overturn his suspension from Deflategate was upheld in 2015.
The lawsuits the NFL filed in Deflategate & now in Ezekiel Elliot are almost identical. Just changing names & dates.
