Colin Kaepernick came out in support of Michael Bennett after the Seattle Seahawks defensive end said Wednesday that Las Vegas police officers used excessive force while detaining him near his hotel on Aug. 26.

"This violation that happened against my Brother Michael Bennett is disgusting and unjust," Kaepernick tweeted. "I stand with Michael and I stand with the people."
Bennett has been a vocal supporter of Kaepernick following his 2016 national anthem protest.
The pass-rusher is planning to continue what Kaepernick started. He sat for the anthem during the preseason and said he plans to do so throughout the rest of the campaign in protest of racial inequality and police brutality.
"He had to sacrifice. He spoke up and dealt with a lot of things that were going on - from death threats, people not wanting him in the stadium, people hating him," Bennett said on Aug. 16 regarding Kaepernick, according to ESPN. "I think a lot of players were scared of that. Then, on top of that, players feeling like he was being blackballed, people were eventually scared.
"But now, just because he's out of the league, we didn't want to lose that message, pushing for liberty and equality for everybody. We just wanted to keep that message alive."
In his detailing of the incident with police on Twitter, Bennett said it was an example of why he intends to sit for the anthem.
