The New England Patriots' notoriously complicated playbook has been the undoing of many talented NFL players over the years.
Apparently, that won't the case for recently acquired third-year wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, though.
"It's been a transition and I love it already," Dorsett told Ryan Hannable of WEEI. "It's going to be a definite transition learning the playbook and everything, but like I said before, I'm the person for it."
Dorsett is expected to be used sparingly in Thursday's season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, after being acquired from the Indianapolis Colts less than a week ago, but the wideout says he's ready for any opportunity he's given.
"Whatever they’re going to ask me to do, I’m willing to do. If they ask me to do it, I’m willing to do it," Dorsett said.
In two years with the Colts, Dorsett appeared in a total of 26 games, hauling in 51 of 99 targets for 753 yards and three touchdowns.
Dorsett is working as hard as he can to demonstrate he can be everything the team needs him to be.
"They throw a lot at you first, but I’m just in it. You have to be in it. ... I just go back to the hotel and study as much as I can until I get tired. And then, I try to study more. At the end of the day, I think it’ll be worth it."
