The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed an incident involving two of its officers and Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is under investigation.

In a statement released on Twitter, the police department asked the public to "reserve judgment" on the matter.

Bennett alleges two Las Vegas police officers used excessive force while detaining him near his hotel on Aug. 26 after it sounded like shots were fired.

The 31-year-old said officers racially profiled him, and placed a gun near his head and threatened to "blow (his) fucking head off" before ultimately releasing him after becoming aware of his identity.

Bennett has retained John Burris, an Oakland Civil Rights Attorney, who has called for the Las Vegas police department to reveal the identities of the two officers and release the officers' body camera videos of the incident.
