The New York Giants put up a mere three points in their season opener Sunday night, losing to the rival Dallas Cowboys 19-3.
The offense in particular was sorely lacking without star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup. The team posted just 35 rushing yards and had just 56 offensive plays, while their defense was on the field for 74 snaps.
It was a forgettable performance for a team that loaded up on offensive weapons in the offseason.
"The offense was very disappointing," head coach Ben McAdoo said after the game, according to James Kratch of NJ.com.
"We need to go back and take a look at the film. I know no part of the offense was functional tonight."
Entering the season, the offensive line was an area of concern. On Sunday, its running backs could only manage 2.9 yards per carry and quarterback Eli Manning had trouble finding open receivers.
"You can't just point the finger at one person or one position when you have an outing like that," McAdoo said.
