If it wasn't clear before, Alvin Kamara once again highlighted that he's the best running back on the New Orleans Saints' roster in a hugely impressive display during Sunday's 20-0 destruction of the Miami Dolphins.

The Saints' offense has always been at its best when head coach Sean Payton has exciting, dynamic, versatile toys to use - and Kamara is clearly his new favorite.

The rookie was the guy Sunday for New Orleans, while Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson were mostly afterthoughts, especially Peterson.

Kamara did most of his damage through the air, catching 10 passes for 71 yards, including this 12-yard touchdown to put the game away in the fourth quarter:

He also added 25 yards on five carries.

The Saints, for some reason, thought they could take pressure off Brees this season by remodeling the offense into a power-run unit, with Peterson and Ingram splitting early touches and Kamara acting as a change-of-pace back.

Four weeks into the campaign, however, it's obvious New Orleans should abandon those plans and turn the run game over to Kamara.

Ingram still holds value, and would be suited to a 50-50 split with Kamara. But Peterson's time with the Saints should be done. The former MVP not only looks like a terrible fit in the offense, but also appears close to the end. His 4 yards on four carries against the Dolphins was representative of his abilities at this stage in his career.

At 2-2, the Saints should still have playoff aspirations. And, as usual, the offensive workload falls on Brees' shoulders. But in Kamara, the veteran passer has the type of game-changing weapon he hasn't had since Darren Sproles left in 2014.

It's time to roll with the kid.
