Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler is expected to be available to start the team's Week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Cutler has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Baltimore Ravens due to several cracked ribs suffered in the Dolphins' Week 7 victory.
Cutler was replaced by backup Matt Moore early in the third quarter against the New York Jets in Week 7. Moore would go 13-for-21 through the air for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Both touchdowns were completed to wide receiver Kenny Stills.
Moore is receiving the Week 8 start on short rest. It's his first start since last season's AFC Wild Card Playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which the Dolphins lost by a score of 30-12.
Moore started one regular season and one playoff game when taking over for an injured Ryan Tannehill at the end of last season.
Cutler has completed 62.8 percent of his 180 pass attempts through six starts, totalling 995 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions.
At 4-2, the Dolphins are second in the AFC East but will need some stability and improved play under center in order to get back to the playoffs.
