Matt Ryan is tired of talking about 2016.
The Atlanta Falcons came close to winning a Super Bowl last season thanks to potent offense, but this year is a different story - Ryan and company are struggling after losing three-straight games.
"We have to find a way for this team to play the way that we’re capable of as a team," Ryan said, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "We can’t worry about last year. I know that constantly gets brought up, but as players we are not thinking about last year. We are not playing good enough as a unit in 2017. Frankly, I don’t really care to go back to 2016. It’s not useful for us."
The Falcons' offense looks nothing like it did under Kyle Shanahan in 2016, a year where they led the league with an average of nearly 34 points per game. Atlanta has only mustered 21.3 points this season, while struggling on third down and in the red zone.
"We’ve got to make those plays," Ryan said. "I believe that we will. We have done a good job in practice and I have the belief that will make plays when we get the opportunities in games. We just have to keep working on it."
Things won't get any easier for Ryan and company to break out of this funk, as they'll play three of their next four games on the road, starting with a trip to New York to face the Jets on Sunday.
