Report: Browns' owners irate at front office after failed McCarron trade

The Cleveland Browns reinforced their status as a national punchline Tuesday, and predictably, their ownership wasn't too happy about it.

Ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, the Browns reportedly reached a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals to acquire quarterback AJ McCarron. However, the Browns filed the paperwork to the NFL just past the 4 p.m. ET deadline, nullifying the transaction.

Browns co-owner Dee Haslam, who shares the team with her husband, Jimmy, reportedly blasted the team's front office for failing to complete the trade, a source told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

The Browns are reportedly arguing that they filed their paperwork in time, insisting the Bengals failed to send a document that had been signed by both clubs. Numerous other teams told Florio that both the Browns and Bengals should've operated independently in filing the paperwork.

Irrespective of the reason for the trade falling through, the Haslam family is furious, and for good reason.
