Broadcasting legend Vin Scully isn't a fan of player protests during the national anthem.

The former voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers revealed during a speaking engagement Saturday that the protests have turned him off the NFL.

"I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed. I used to love during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. ... I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game," Scully said, according to Tom Schad of USA TODAY Sports.

Scully added that he spent one year in the Navy, "didn't go anywhere, didn't do anything," but maintains strong respect for the military.

The 89-year-old Scully didn't offer his opinion on Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell, who in September became the first MLB player to protest during the "Star-Spangled Banner."
