Clay Matthews has joined the chorus of Green Bay Packers players offering public support to their team doctor.
Former Packers tight end Martellus Bennett claimed last week that Packers physician Dr. Patrick McKenzie knew about an existing shoulder injury and tried to persuade him to play through it. The allegation came after the veteran was released by Green Bay and subsequently scooped up by the New England Patriots.

"We all got a good laugh from it," linebacker Clay Matthews said of Bennett's claims, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "It is what it is. Martellus is in their locker room now and not here anymore. So now we're just focused on the guys we have in here."
Bennett had planned to end his season early and undergo shoulder surgery, but before he could go under the knife, the Packers cut him for "failure to disclose a medical condition."
Bennett responded with a tirade on Instagram, claiming the Packers panicked about having to pay the remainder of his salary.
"I think everybody knows the story there - we don't need to talk about it much more," Matthews said. " ... We're focused on the guys in the locker room, but it's an interesting story that will probably be talked about for a while."
