The Green Bay Packers have placed running back Ty Montgomery on injured reserve with injuries to his ribs and wrist, effectively ending his season, the club announced Friday.

Montgomery had missed the previous two games with the injuries, as well as a Week 5 win over the Dallas Cowboys due a rib issue. The third-year pro, who converted from receiver to full-time running back in the offseason, had amassed 273 rushing yards, 173 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns over eight games this season.

Rookies Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams are expected to carry the load at running back in Montgomery's absence.

In a corresponding move, the Packers signed wide receiver Michael Clark off the practice squad, though they've been rumored to bring Aaron Rodgers back from IR soon, as he is eligible to practice as of Friday and was seen throwing passes last week.
