NFL, Verizon reach reported 5-year streaming deal worth nearly $2.5B
The NFL announced Monday a new multi-year partnership with Verizon to stream live games on the telecommunications company's digital platforms, including Yahoo Sports.
The deal, which begins in January, will allow Verizon to stream in-market and national games throughout the season to its various digital and mobile properties, regardless of the network.
It spans five years and is worth close to $500 million per year, according to John Ourand and Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Journal.
Verizon is currently paying the NFL $250 million per season on a deal that began in 2013.
"Verizon has been a key NFL partner, both in the distribution of games on NFL mobile and as a sponsor, since 2010 and we're thrilled to be both extending and expanding our relationship with them," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a release.
