NFL dominates top 50 US TV broadcasts of 2017
Although the NFL's audience has dropped 9 percent from a year ago, football continues to dominate television in the United States.
NFL games accounted for 37 of the nation's top 50 broadcasts of 2017, Ad Age's Anthony Crupi reports. That's up from last year, when NFL games accounted for 28 of the top 50 (though that lower figure can be partly attributed to the 2016 Olympics).
Seven of the nation's 10 most-watched programs in 2017 were football games, drawing in 360.4 million total viewers. Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons was the most-watched broadcast of the year, attracting 111.3 million people.
The highest-rated regular-season game of 2017 was the thrilling, controversial Week 15 meeting between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Patriots, which ranked 15th in viewers with 26.9 million.
