Panthers sign Rivera to 2-year extension worth reported $15.5M

The Carolina Panthers announced a two-year contract extension for head coach Ron Rivera through the 2020 season. The deal is worth $15.5 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rivera has coached the Panthers since January 2011, winning three NFC South championships, and will be making a fourth playoff appearance Sunday. They sport a 3-3 playoff record with Rivera at the helm.

This is the first big move completed by COO Tina Becker, who took over the role following a series of misconduct allegations against owner Jerry Richardson.
