The Green Bay Packers have dipped into their past to help shape their future.
Green Bay will name Joe Philbin as its new offensive coordinator, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Packers fired offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt after a season in which Green Bay failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
Philbin previously served as a position coach for the Packers from 2003 to 2006 and was promoted to offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2011. He left to become the head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2012.
The Packers also recently hired Mike Pettine as their new defensive coordinator and promoted Brian Gutekunst to general manager.
