After a frustrating 2017 season, it appears Eli Manning has a positive outlook toward 2018 with the New York Giants.
The veteran is encouraged by the hiring of head coach Pat Shurmur and seems interested in playing his 15th NFL season in New York, per John Healy of New York Daily News.
At his new coach's introduction Friday, Manning spoke with plenty of optimism.
"(I'm) just excited to see how he calls games, how he looks at defenses, how he wants to pick them apart, and just seeing his insight to that and learn from it," Manning said. "So we can see things the same way, have great communication, and figure out how to score some points.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion is coming off his worst statistical season, throwing just 19 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. In one of the season's more bizarre stories, he was benched in favor of Geno Smith for a Week 13 tilt with Oakland - ending his 210-game regular-season start streak - but reclaimed his starting spot the very next week.
Manning does have one connection to his new coach, as his son, Kyle Shurmur, is a quarterback at Vanderbilt and attended the Manning Passing Academy in 2017.
