Report: Gronkowski considering retirement, switch to acting

Coming off a Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in which he caught 9 of 15 targets for 116 yards and two touchdowns, Rob Gronkowski may be weighing a career change.

The oft-injured Patriots tight end is reportedly considering retirement from football in order to pursue an acting career, a source told Bill Burt of the Eagle Tribune. He suffered a concussion in the AFC Championship Game, though returned in time for the Super Bowl, and apparently told friends that his injuries have taken a toll.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Sylvester Stallone have told Gronkowski he could make millions as an action star, reports Burt, which is apparently another draw because of his contract.

The four-time first-team All-Pro is due a base salary of $8 million in 2018 and $9 million in 2019 - the final years remaining on his six-year, $54-million extension.

He'll be 30 when that contract is set to expire.
