Colts re-sign Vinatieri to reported 1-year contract

The GOAT is sticking around.

The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed pending free-agent kicker Adam Vinatieri, the team announced Thursday.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed by Indy, but Vinatieri will sign a one-year contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, extending his likely Hall of Fame career to 23 seasons,

Vinatieri's deal is worth $3.625 million, added Schefter. This puts him outside the top-five highest-paid players at his position in terms of average salary, according to Spotrac.

The 45-year-old needs just 58 points to move past Morten Anderson for the most in NFL history.

Despite his advancing age, the four-time Super Bowl champion has shown little sign of decline.

He made 29 of 34 field-goal kicks in 2017, with two of those misses coming in a snow game against the Buffalo Bills, and hit on all but one of his extra-point attempts.
