One of the most bizarre stories to come out of Johnny Manziel's tenure with the Cleveland Browns was a report about him donning a blonde wig and introducing himself as "Billy" while partying in Las Vegas prior to the 2016 season finale.
Manziel seemingly tried to dispel the rumors by suggesting on Instagram that he was in Ohio at the time, but now acknowledges that he was, in fact, in Las Vegas in disguise.
He shared details about the infamous night on "The ThomaHawk Show," a podcast hosted by his former teammates Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins.
"I had my hood, my hat, my everything, my sunglasses, my everything. So I get there, and no problem," Manziel said, according to Jordan Heck of Sporting News.
But then a reporter recognized Manziel at a bar, sending him "into straight damage control."
"So then I'm like, I'm not going to be able to just go in with a hat. Let's go get a wig," he said. "And, as funny as this is, I'm still pretty embarrassed by it. It's still like a reckless decision, but like we said, let it die.
"I'm like, 'Let's go to this wig shop.' So I type in Google, nearest wig shop and just go somewhere off the strip. Very very sketchy, I walk into this place and this little lady walks up (and asks), 'What you want on your hair?' And I'm like, 'I need something that makes me not look like this. Do you have a mustache, do you have a wig, do you have anything?' And she came back with this wig and I put it on, and I'm like, 'Perfect!' I shaved off all my facial hair except my mustache."
The wig in question was a "blondish, brown mullet," which Manziel said he still has a photo of.
