The Indianapolis Colts have informed veteran running back Frank Gore that he will not be re-signed by the team.
"(General manager) Chris Ballard had a long talk with Frank out of respect after the season. Chris was upfront and told him we'd be moving on and getting younger at that position," new head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday at the scouting combine.
Gore, a veteran of 13 seasons, has spent the last three years in Indianapolis. He's rushed for 2,953 yards in that time.
The 34-year-old is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
"We want to give Frank a chance to go find what's out there," Ballard added at his media availability.
The Colts have Marlon Mack, Matt Jones, and Josh Ferguson at the position, but Ballard also noted this year's draft is littered with talented rushers.
