Report: Seahawks shopping Michael Bennett
The Seattle Seahawks are entertaining trade offers for defensive lineman Michael Bennett, a source told ESPN's Brady Henderson.
Bennett was named to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive season.
"I haven't talked to Mike in a while now but it's the time of year, conversations going in all directions," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday.
Bennett told reporters following Seattle's final regular-season game that "I probably won't be back next year" after the club missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
The 32-year-old has been a vital component of the team's defense since joining in 2013 to start his second stint with the Seahawks. Bennett recorded 40 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 16 games during the 2017 season.
Bennett is owed $1.6 million in base salary and holds a $7.3-million cap hit for the 2018 season, with a potential out in his contract in 2019, although he's currently scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
