Corner Bashaud Breeland has failed his physical with the Carolina Panthers due to a non-football-related injury, the team announced. The development voids a reported three-year, $24-million deal previously agreed to at the open of free agency.
Breeland cut his foot and the resulting infection means he's months away from passing a physical, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
The 26-year-old was targeted early when the legal tampering period opened ahead of free agency.
There remains a number of available corners on the market for a Panthers team lacking in defensive backs, including veterans Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Rashaan Melvin, and Delvin Breaux.
