Report: Patriots met with Manziel at Texas A&M pro day
The New England Patriots met with free-agent quarterback Johnny Manziel before and after his Tuesday workout at Texas A&M's pro day, a source told the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian.
Manziel's appearance marked the second college showcase at which he's worked out, as he previously threw during San Diego's pro day.
The Pats apparently weren't the only team to show interest in the artist known as "Johnny Football," as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Manziel met with other franchises as well.
Manziel said after the workout he intends to play in the Canadian Football League if he doesn't land any NFL opportunities. He's also set to play in the Texas-based Spring League and is expected to be in Austin on Wednesday.
The former Heisman Trophy winner's off-field issues have been well documented, but he's said he has made a serious effort to clean up his act over the last several months.
Manziel, now 25, has been out of the NFL for the last two seasons. He was a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns out of Texas A&M in 2014.
