Broncos sign Marquette King to 3-year deal worth reported $7M
The Denver Broncos announced Thursday the signing of punter Marquette King to a three-year contract.
The deal is worth $7 million, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
"Cool thing about the Broncos (is) they encourage you to be yourself,'' King said, according to Mike Klis of 9News.com, in an apparent shot at new Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.
King was released by the AFC West-rival Raiders last week. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
The 29-year-old played a total of 80 regular-season games and one playoff contest with the Raiders over the past five seasons. He's averaged a NET of 42.7 yards per punt in his career with a touchback percentage of 36.6. Those numbers would likely see a boost if he's playing home games at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
