Von Miller 'followed the rules' after catching shark on fishing trip
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller denies having done anything wrong when on a shark fishing trip last month after being included in an investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
In his first public comments on Tuesday since the incident in question, Miller says he was "shocked" to have caught a hammerhead shark at all and that he later released the animal back into the water after snapping a photo, according to The Associated Press.
"I went fishing. Everybody knows that I hunt and fish. It's what I do. But I also believe in conservation. I'm not just out there going crazy," Miller said. "We followed the rules. I did everything I was supposed to do."
Miller says he has not yet been contacted by the commission, nor has he discussed the matter with anyone else.
"I haven't talked to anybody about it. It's a serious deal. I don't want to be light-hearted about it," Miller said. "That's just me. But we did everything we were supposed to do when it comes to that situation."
