The Buffalo Bills released guard Richie Incognito from the reserve/retired list Monday, the team announced.
Incognito asked the Bills for his release in April after a bizarre week, in which he claimed he would attend the team's voluntary offseason activities the day after Buffalo placed him on the retired list.
The veteran guard had contemplated retirement since the 2017 season concluded, but he's now free to sign with any team if he's interested in continuing his career. Incognito reportedly hopes to play in 2018, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The controversial lineman turns 35 in July and is a four-time Pro Bowler.
