Eagles' Pederson: White House visit 'an individual decision'

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed his team will visit the White House on June 5, but said the trip won't be mandatory for players.

"We're excited to be going," Pederson said Tuesday, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com. "At the same time, it's an individual (for the players) decision."

Malcolm Jenkins, Torrey Smith, and Chris Long are among the prominent members of the Eagles' Super Bowl-winning team who have already said they won't be joining their teammates in Washington.

It was unclear if the Eagles would continue the tradition of visiting the White House after owner Jeffery Lurie's recent critical comments of President Donald Trump.

Asked about the trip Tuesday, Carson Wentz said he will defer to the group's decision.
