SNF records 7th straight year as TV's highest-rated show
The NFL might not be the rating juggernaut it once was, but football is still the king of television.
NBC's Sunday Night Football was TV's highest-rated series in 2017, according to Scooby Axson of Sports Illustrated, who notes its seven consecutive years atop the ratings has broken a record previously set by "American Idol."
SNF pulled in an average of 18.2 million viewers, dominated the 18-49 demographic, and only trailed CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" in terms of total viewers.
The NFL's ratings have declined in recent years, with some suggesting that protests during the national anthem were causing people to switch off.
So, while the NFL may be experiencing a drop in ratings, it appears to be the most immune to the widespread drop in TV interest.
