Elliott bristles at No. 54 ranking from NFL Network's Top 100
Count Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott out at your own peril.
Elliott took the NFL by storm during his rookie season in 2016, winning the rushing title and adding 16 total touchdowns. His sophomore year was marred by a six-game suspension, but Elliott still rushed for 983 yards and seven touchdowns, and the Cowboys slumped in his absence.
The Cowboys running back was ranked No. 54 on NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2018 list, and he chafed at his place on the chart, sending a message to the rest of the league.
"I know the player I am," Elliott said via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "You guys know the player I am. Everyone in the league knows the player I am. So I don't really need verification from a top-100 list."
Elliott has proven to be one of the NFL's most dangerous running backs when he's on the field, excelling in space with breakaway speed and outstanding field vision.
After the suspension ruined his chances of winning a second consecutive rushing title, Elliott is looking to reestablish himself as one of the NFL's marquee stars.
"I'm excited for this year. I have high expectations for myself."
