The petition, launched on Care2, specifically calls on Nike, Anheuser-Busch, Bose, Ford, Hyundai, and Under Armour to cut ties with the NFL. The six companies all released statements last season supporting players' rights to freely express their views.
"Care2 is calling on Nike, Anheuser-Busch, Bose, Ford, Hyundai, and Under Armour to put their money where their mouth is and stand in support of free speech and against police brutality," the petition reads.
As of Friday afternoon, the petition had received more than 9,200 signatures.
