Texans' O'Brien: Deshaun Watson's focused, ready, 'taking care of his body'
Deshaun Watson seems to be excited for his sophomore season.
The Houston Texans quarterback had his rookie campaign ended by a torn ACL in practice following a 400-yard passing performance in Week 8, but head coach Bill O'Brien said he's been working hard to make sure he gets back to that level.
"He's in the building every morning at 6:00 a.m.," O'Brien told reporters on Tuesday, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "He's taking care of his body. He's eating correctly. He's in the meetings. He's focused in the meetings. He's ready to go. He has good ideas. There's good interaction in the meetings, and he's come out here on the field and been able to do what he can do. "
It was reported earlier Tuesday that Watson, along with defensive end J.J. Watt, is expected to avoid the physically unable to perform list for the start of training camp. O'Brien reiterated the importance of the mid-July practices.
"Obviously, training camp will be a big period of time for all of us, especially for he and I moving forward through getting into 11-on-11, full pads, but he's had a good spring," said O'Brien.
