Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier shared a positive update on his recovery from a season-ending spinal injury Wednesday.

Walking with the use of a cane, Shazier took to the podium at a scheduled press conference and said, "I feel like I'm constantly getting better.

"My dream is to come back to football and to play. I have that in the back of my head every day when I go to rehab."

Shazier said the next milestone he'd like to hit is walking without any assistance or the use of a cane.

The two-time Pro Bowler underwent spinal stabilization surgery Dec. 6 after suffering an injury on an attempted tackle in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 4.

The Steelers have already ruled him out for the 2018 season, but he will remain with the team during the year in another capacity.
