TB12 trainer Alex Guerrero: 'Disappointing' to hear of Edelman's suspension
Alex Guerrero, who trains Tom Brady and several other New England Patriots, is denying any involvement in Thursday's news of Julian Edelman's pending four-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.
"I've known Julian since his rookie year and he is a phenomenal athlete who takes his training seriously - it’s disappointing to hear today's news," Guerrero said, according to Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston. "Elite athletes sometimes work with multiple coaches and health professionals as part of their training."
Edelman had reportedly been spending less time at the Brady-branded TB12 sports therapy center this offseason, a source told Curran. The 31-year-old has been working his way back from the torn ACL that cost him the entirety of the 2017 campaign.
Guerrero was assertive in explaining the methods that are practiced at TB12, disassociating himself - and the clinic - from the suspension.
"Here at our facility, we take a natural, holistic, appropriate and, above all, legal approach to training and recovery for all of our clients. And anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong," Guerrero said.
Edelman is appealing the suspension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
