Jon Gruden to undergo elbow surgery

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden will undergo elbow surgery on Friday, he told reporters at the end of minicamp.

"I'm kicking off my summer with a real, real bang," he joked, according to Matt Schneidman of the Bay Area News Group.

Gruden gave no indication that the procedure will affect his ability to coach the team during training camp in July.

The 54-year-old signed a 10-year contract with the Raiders in January, returning him to the sidelines following a nine-year stint in the broadcast booth.
