New York Giants defensive tackle A.J. Francis voiced his shock and displeasure with the Transportation Security Administration on Monday, saying agents who inspected his checked luggage spilled a container carrying the ashes of his recently-deceased mother onto his clothes.
Francis' mother, Carrie Leanne, died two weeks ago. The veteran NFLer understood the TSA's desire to check the container, but was extremely upset at its carelessness.
The TSA later issued an apology from their customer service Twitter account.
Francis went undrafted in 2013, and spent time with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and Washington Redskins before signing with the Giants in May.
