Barkley signs rookie deal reportedly worth fully guaranteed $31.2M
The New York Giants signed running back Saquon Barkley to his rookie contract, the team announced Sunday.
The deal is worth $31.2 million over four years and is fully guaranteed, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It reportedly contains a $20.76-million signing bonus, with $15 million of it being paid out to Barkley immediately and the rest coming by October.
The $31.2-million guarantee is the second-largest ever given to a running back, trailing only Adrian Peterson's deal he signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2011, according to Spotrac.
Barkley and the Giants hammered out the deal Sunday, the day New York's rookies report to training camp.
The Giants used the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 draft to select Barkley, a very talented three-down tailback out of Penn State.
