Panthers OT Daryl Williams carted off with apparent knee injury
Carolina Panthers starting right tackle Daryl Williams was carted off the field during practice Saturday with an apparent knee injury.
Williams' right knee buckled as he fell back during a team drill. He was screaming in pain and immediately had a brace placed on his knee.
Head coach Ron Rivera said Williams will be taken to Charlotte for further evaluation, per Steve Reed of The Associated Press.
The Panthers selected the powerful lineman in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Williams' injury could be a massive blow to the team's offensive line. The former Oklahoma Sooner earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2017 and is one of the top right tackles in the league.
In the event of a long-term injury, Taylor Moton - Carolina's second-round selection in 2017 - and Jeremiah Sirles would battle for the starting spot if the team does not acquire outside help.
