Carroll 'fired up' about Shaquem Griffin's 9-tackle preseason debut
Shaquem Griffin made a strong first impression in his first-ever appearance in an NFL game.
In Thursday night's preseason opener, the Seattle Seahawks' fifth-round draft pick - who had his left hand amputated at age 4 - led the team in tackles with nine.
Griffin entered the game on the Indianapolis Colts' second offensive drive and proceeded to make four consecutive tackles.
"I am really fired up about it," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after the game, ESPN's Brady Henderson reports.
"This is what he looks like in practice. He's running around. He's really fast. By understanding the scheme, he's utilizing his opportunities to be on the attack. He's a weapon in that regard."
Griffin is currently playing behind K.J. Wright at weak-side linebacker.
