Hackenberg lands with Eagles
Christian Hackenberg has found his next home and potential path to redemption.
The former New York Jets quarterback is signing with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Sunday.
Signing Hackenberg is a chance to develop another young pivot alongside Nate Sudfeld, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero added, and it isn't a reflection on the health of Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. Wentz is still working his way back from a season-ending knee injury, while Foles has recently been dealing with back issues.
The Jets used a second-round pick to select the former Penn State standout in 2016, but he failed to log even a single regular-season snap with the team. He was traded in June to the Oakland Raiders, then subsequently released less than a month later.
