Barkley suffers 'mild' leg strain, Giants to be cautious moving forward
The entire New York Giants fan base just let out a collective sigh of relief.
The Giants' No. 2 overall pick, Saquon Barkley, escaped with just a minor leg injury after coming up lame in practice on Monday.
"Saquon has a mild strain, and we'll be smart with him as we move along," said head coach Pat Shurmur, according to the team's official Twitter account.
The rookie running back had an area of his left leg wrapped after hauling in a pass from quarterback Kyle Lauletta.
However, the wrap came off quickly and Barkley was seen walking out of the fieldhouse with the rest of his teammates, according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
"Think he's all right," head coach Pat Shurmur said after the session.
The Giants' next preseason game is Friday against the Detroit Lions.
