Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced Wednesday that rookie Shaquem Griffin will start at linebacker for the team's opener against the Denver Broncos.

Griffin's taking the place of K.J. Wright, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Aug. 27 and is expected to miss at least two weeks.

The 23-year-old Griffin became the first one-handed player ever drafted into the NFL when the Seahawks selected him in the fifth round in April. Griffin's twin brother, Shaquill, will start at cornerback for Seattle.
