Adrian Peterson has been with the Washington Redskins for mere weeks, but the former NFL MVP has apparently already earned the top job.

The running back will reportedly be Washington's starter Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to John Keim of ESPN.

Peterson started six games for the Cardinals last season. He rushed for 448 yards and two touchdowns, but could only muster an average of 3.5 yards per carry.

Washington brought in the veteran after a season-ending injury to rookie Derrius Guice, who was expected to be the team's starter.

While Peterson will likely get the early-down work, scat back Chris Thompson - who had 510 receiving yards in 10 games in 2017 - should replace him on passing downs.
