Appeals court revives lawsuit against NFL over prescription painkillers

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has restored a lawsuit against the NFL that was filed by former players who say the league illegally provided them with prescription painkillers, according to The Associated Press.
A lower court had previously dismissed the lawsuit after the NFL said the players failed to exhaust the grievance procedures included in the labor agreements between players and teams.
The players' point of contention is that the league failed to warn them of the long-term consequences of the drugs they were told to take to be able to continue playing.
