Patriots sign former 1st-round pick Corey Coleman

The New England Patriots announced the signing of former first-round draft pick Corey Coleman.

The 15th overall pick in 2016's draft, Coleman was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills during the preseason. The Bills dropped him during roster cuts.

The Patriots' receiving corps has been a revolving door. With Julian Edelman suspended for the first four games, Rob Gronkowski did most of the receiving work in Sunday's season opener, catching seven passes for 123 yards against the Houston Texans. New Patriot Phillip Dorsett also had seven catches, followed by running backs James White and James Develin with four each.

Wideouts Chris Hogan and Cordarrelle Patterson were held to one catch each.

Coleman has yet to blossom in the pros. He caught 33 passes for 413 yards in his rookie year and his totals dropped to 23 catches for 305 yards last year. His departure from Cleveland was shown on "Hard Knocks," with his apparent lack of effort factoring into the decision.
