The Cincinnati Bengals fear starting running back Joe Mixon will need arthroscopic surgery to clean up his injured knee and could miss time, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo.

Mixon left Thursday's win over the Baltimore Ravens twice due to injury, but returned both times. He'll reportedly get a second opinion before any decision is made.

The second-year rusher described his injury as "some weird tweak" following the game, via ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

Mixon carried the ball 21 times against the Ravens, totaling 84 yards. He added one catch for 3 yards.

Giovani Bernard would be expected to lead the Bengals' backfield should Mixon miss time. Tra Carson and 2018 fourth-round pick Mark Walton could also see an increase in snaps. Walton was a healthy scratch for the team's first two games.
