New Orleans Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata came away from Week 1 with debt, as a pair of fines for roughing the passer topped the value of his game check.
Onyemata, who makes a weekly salary of $37,059, was fined $40,108 combined for his two major fouls, according to ESPN's Michael Triplett. He was the only player slapped with multiple fines for Week 1 infractions.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Onyemata can appeal the fines because they exceed 50 percent of his salary.
Onyemata was a fourth-round pick of the Saints in 2016.
