Thomas says Cowboys coaches asked if he's 'ready for the trade tomorrow'
Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas had a lot to say after a classic performance on Sunday.
Following a week in which his team disciplined him for missing practices, Thomas turned in a stellar game, recording seven tackles and two interceptions in a win over the Dallas Cowboys.
After the game, the three-time All-Pro addressed the dramatic week and his feeling that it may have been his final game in a Seahawks uniform.
"I heard chatter, people were coming up to me and saying a trade might happen. Even pregame, a couple Cowboys coaches came up to me, I don't know if they were playing psychological games, but they were like, 'You ready for the trade tomorrow,'" Thomas said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
Thomas, who held out this offseason in search of a new contract with the Seahawks and was widely connected to the Cowboys in trade discussions, bowed to the Dallas bench after his second pick.
"I felt like that was just in the moment and if they was going to trade for me and extend me, they should have did it," Thomas said, via Curtis Crabtree of Sportsradio KJR.
As for reports that Thomas is essentially continuing his holdout midweek between games, the free safety admitted he's taking a cautious approach with his body.
"I need to make sure my body is 100 (percent) and I'm invested in myself," he said, per Crabtree.
"If they was invested in me, I'd be out there practicing, but if I feel like anything - I don't give a damn if it's small, I got a headache - I'm not practicing."
The 29-year-old is in the final season of a four-year, $40-million deal signed in 2014.
