Report: Falcons lose Ricardo Allen to torn Achilles
Atlanta Falcons safety Ricardo Allen will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Allen suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons have now lost both their starting safeties to season-ending injuries after Keanu Neal went down with a torn ACL in Week 1.
Allen signed a three-year, $19.5-million extension with Atlanta before the season. The 26-year-old registered 17 tackles and one interception in three contests.
The Falcons have been ravaged by injuries in the opening month of the season, particularly on defense. Standout linebacker Deion Jones was placed on injured reserve two weeks ago because of a foot injury, pass-rusher Takkarist McKinley missed Week 3 due to a groin issue, and several others have been battling various ailments.
