Report: 49ers not interested in trading for QB despite Garoppolo injury
The San Francisco 49ers won't pursue a high-profile quarterback via trade or free agency amid the season-ending knee injury to Jimmy Garoppolo, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Instead, the 49ers are confident that C.J. Beathard, a 2017 third-round pick who saw extensive action last season before San Francisco acquired Garoppolo, will be productive as the starter.
The report suggests the 49ers won't go after Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles or Tyrod Taylor of the Cleveland Browns, or look to bring back free agent Colin Kaepernick.
Beathard completed 54.9 percent of his passes last season while throwing for 1,430 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions in seven appearances.
San Francisco is 1-2 heading into its Week 4 tilt with the Los Angeles Chargers.
